Watch the morning sunrise or the spectacular sunset from your own private verandah area. Our newly renovated Shearers Quarters can accommodate groups, families, and individuals.

As the name suggests, Food & Huts by Mount Oxley combines overnight accommodation in a unique outback setting, hearty country style dinner and fully cooked breakfast, plus Billy tea and damper scones.  Explore the serenity of Mt Oxley with amazing wild life and spectacular scenery - Mt Oxley with a photographers paradise.

Combine history with exploring by retracing the steps of adventurer Charles Sturt and discover the brilliant Mount Oxley. The mesa is one of the highest points in the region and boasts spectacular views of Bourke and surrounds. Charles Sturt and Hamilton Hume discovered Mt Oxley in the January of 1829 just prior to discovering the Darling River. Captain Charles Sturt said this of Mt Oxley - “The isolated mountain whose sides seemed almost perpendicular broke the otherwise even line of the horizon."

Charming Bourke Accommodation

The accommodation has been renovated to reflect a historical theme, with the rooms being named after the famous explorers, surveyors and other Back O' Bourke legends. Imagine the feeling of isolation that Sturt must have felt the first time that he stood on the top of Mt Oxley and looked at the flat landscape.

Enjoy your own fun private getaway. The huts are situated between the homestead and the mountain approximately 8kms to each.  Our shearers hut includes 2 bathrooms, laundry, self contained kitchen. A wood stove in the kitchen and open fire place in the dining room provide heating and make it very cosy on a cool night, whilst three bedrooms are airconditioned. Surrounding verandahs make it easy to move around. The venue is self catering available where you can bring own food, or Bill and Denise cook and eat with you at the huts if you wish.
