Beltana centenary celebrations
The Reunion
The first reunion was held in September of 1984. The population in the town at that time was indeed very small, however just over three hundred people attended and decided that they would like a reunion every two years. The idea was developed on a man’s dream-his love for the town and to bring people back to where they once lived, also bringing their children and grandchildren and all following generations to be able to go back through time and see how it used to be and how the town is now. His aim to keep this little town alive even if only for people to be able to visit and able to mix in with the locals.
This year the reunion is being held on Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th of October.
The reunion in 2012 will be quite a celebration being 100 years since Reverend John Flynn went to Beltana and began to put together his Mantle of Safety for South Australia. With Alf Traeger they achieved this goal. The rest is history and we now know it as the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Beltana has a magic touch about it as the quietness, the peace, the serenity, the mystique of the whole area just has to be seen to be believed. Some people say that it is like going back through time and they have fallen in love with Beltana returning to enjoy all of the above and more.
Everybody Welcome
