Lightning Ridge Police Bush Safari (4WD Adventures)
The majesty of the outback is the time she affords you for contemplation, the splendour of the seasons and the spirit of fun and generosity. It is these qualities that a team of volunteers from Lightning Ridge in Outback NSW, have harnessed and shared with fellow adventurers and their community since 1990.
The Lightning Ridge Police Bush Safari enjoys an outstanding reputation for providing a unique and entertaining guided outback holiday adventure for city weary travellers to let down their hair and see new parts of remote Australia.
With adventures spanning two decades and the breadth of the nation, the committee has certainly made its mark on outback tourism.
More impressively though is the $300,000 the committee and their ‘holiday makers’ have donated directly to the remote opal mining community of Lightning Ridge by their participation in the Safari’s.
The major beneficiary of the Safari is the local State Emergency Service who is empowered, with cash, to purchase equipment and provide training and support to their volunteers. A variety of other local committees benefit with cash donations for small projects and in 2009 the Safari funded the construction of a much needed shade shelter at the local skate park.
We are travelling out to Birdsville then down the Birdsville Track with a stop off at Maree for Lake Eyre before heading back up the Strzelecki Track to Cameron's Corner then home via White Cliffs.
Your favourite Bush Safari evening entertainment will be on tap with activities that could include a trivia night, movies in the outback, theme nights, the unforgettable Talent Quest - or you can just have a yarn around the campfire at the end of each wonderful day!
The Safari will again be supported by local volunteers from the Ambulance, SES & Police Services as well as a mechanic who will all do their best to keep you safe and happy while enjoying the challenges of outback driving.
“If ever there was a year to enjoy these outback treasures, it is this year.
