The Roma Cup festival is rapidly becoming a 3 day event in the capital of south-west Queensland, November 15-17 in 2013.
The biggest race meeting in Western Queensland has become a phenomena that is turning Roma into a carnival town for the weekend of the Cup.
Friday night, downtown Roma will host a street party for the Calcutta, where those in the district for the weekend can come to the party, be treated to the horse auction on the Roma Cup and dance to the live music of the Roma Cup feature band throughout the evening.
The race meeting will feature the seven traditional races, televised on Sky Channel and host private marquees for corporate guests and parties, an enormous and lively Track Party as well as a Fashions on the Field unrivalled this side of the Divide.
Complimentary buses will ferry patrons to and from their accommodation to the race track hotspot or the street party the night before.
Cool covers band Golden Child will appear on the main stage and in the street and hip guitarist Pritchy Ray will leave the cooler climes of Melbourne to team up with local muso, Travis Holland to rock the Inside track.
Campers at Bassett Park, a popular place to bed down, only a short stagger from the main gates, will be able to buy passes online, packaged up with a raceday ticket, a discounted breakfast on Sunday morning and a free breathalyser test before they hit the road to home.
Tent City offers some upmarket tent accommodation to punters at the Park, perfect for those planning on staying til close in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Camping is available at Bassett Park, NO BOOKINGS REQUIRED, $25 per car for Friday and Saturday night. First in, best dressed. Showers and toilets, some powered sites available.
