The John O’Brien Bush Festival (Outback Festivals)

Bush poetry, Irish music sessions and dancing, as well as top class performances of humour, word and song, contribute to an authentic outback Australian event.

Head off to the Narrandera John O’Brien Festival of bush poetry and music.

The Festival provides three days of poetry, music, culture and fun activities for the whole family in the beautiful town of Narrandera

Come along and join the locals and help us celebrate this annual event in honour of the famous Australian poet John O’Brien, who lived and worked as Narrandera’s Parish Priest for many years.

Heaps of new talent will add freshness to proceedings over the four days; but there will also be the festival favourites who will be at their entertaining best... poets, storytellers, musicians, and dancers.

Australia’s Bush Poet Champions past and present rub shoulders with the new chums, leaving a liberal legacy of laughter to brighten your visit.

Features include an Art Show, poets’ breakfasts and competitions, yarns “Around the Boree Log”, buskers, stalls, street entertainment, bush dancing, wine tasting, and Poetry, Port and Pottage!

The Street Carnival this year features a Carnival Conga.

Local groups, clubs and schools, along with Festival visitors are all invited to dress up and join the Conga Line!

Great prizes for the bestdressed,the most outrageous, and the funniest.

Variety is part of our festival spice, so while on location in Narrandera enjoy visits to:

• Parkside Cottage Museum (where Macarthur’s coat is on display)
• Can Assist Book Sale (with hundreds of books and magazines of all types to choose from)
• Eco Tour (with running commentary and the chance to see koalas up close)
• A visit to the Inland Fisheries Centre to see the huge freshwater fish aquariums.
