Walgett Rodeo (Rodeo)

Saddle up for the Walgett Rodeo! 2011 dates to be confirmed!

More and more people are flocking to Walgett for its annual Rodeo held on the third weekend in August each year. The Walgett Rodeo boasts an impressive range of equine events including explosive bull riding, spectacular steer wrestling, a Campdraft, Gymkhana, and for the kids a Junior Rodeo and Poddy Riding competition.

With an attractive prize pool, the Walgett Rodeo attracts some top class competitors from throughout Australia. The Walgett Rodeo is a great opportunity to experience the thrills and spills of an exciting outback event.

Expect to see the best of Australia’s horseman put through their paces with a number of exciting events including Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Steer Wrestling, Ladies Barrel Racing, Rope & Tie, Team Roping, Ladies Breakaway Roping, Wild Horse Race and Buck Jump.

In the Campdraft you will see contestants demonstrate their superior riding ability in a predetermined pattern, and a combination of balance between horse and rider in a series of moves.

For the junior cowboys and girls – they get to show off their skill in the Junior Rodeo and Poddy Riding. These are fun events to watch as the kids get amongst the rodeo spirit and aim to tame their very own wild beasts.

The night promises to be full of action with the rodeo during the day and into the evening, then the band kicks off for a night of dancing and frivolity. There is a full Bar and you can ‘tuck into’ some good old country hospitality with a tasty BBQ.
