Mungo National Park has been recognised for its outstanding universal value as part of the Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Area and is well-known for the record it preserves of ancient lives and stories. The park is also significant in the lives of contemporary Aboriginal people, many of whom are involved in the present-day management of the park.
