Rugged escarpments, lush wetlands, plunging gorges and cascading waterfalls exist side by side in huge area. Renowned internationally for its natural and cultural wonders, Kakadu has one of the highest concentrated areas of accessible Aboriginal art site sites in the world.
At its centre is the small mining township of Jabiru, the only Australian town set inside a national park. Closer to Darwin are the unspoiled wetlands of Mary River National Park which is home to millions of birds, many crocodiles and plentiful fish including the mighty barramundi.
In Jabiru visit the Bowali Visitor Centre to take you on a journey through Kakadu's habitats. Travel to Ubirr, a major Aboriginal art site showcasing an array of paintings and styles. Enjoy the unobstructed views as the sunsets over the floodplains and escarpment.
Don’t miss Nourlangie Rock, a famous Aboriginal rock art site. Visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you will learn about the culture, beliefs and lifestyle of the traditional Aboriginal people.
Take a sunset cruise on Yellow Water Billabong and spot birds, crocodiles, and other wildlife.
You can enjoy a birds eye view of Kakadu aboard a 30 minute scenic flight. Join a cultural cruise on the East Alligator River and learn about the Aboriginal aspects of the region before visiting Mamukala Wetlands, where a covered observation deck allows you to view an abundance of birds and wildlife.
Cruise the Adelaide River and watch crocodiles launch themselves out of the water. Finish the day with a visit to Windows on the Wetlands followed by a fiery sunset over Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve.
