Charters Towers Visitor Information Centre

The Visitor Information Centre is open daily from 9am to 5pm (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and Good Friday) and a half day on Anzac Day.

The centre is also home to a dedicated team of local volunteers. Their general knowledge of Charters Towers, as well as being part of the town's history, plays a big part towards the centre's unique and friendly experience for visitors.

The centre occupies a beautifully restored heritage building that has an adjoining Orientation Room. Here visitors get their first taste of the 'ghosts of gold'  Heritage Trail watching the Orientation Film that explains how 'The World' came to Charters Towers, following the discovery of gold. Visitors can take a virtual tour of the city and witness the change from a past era.
