Rose Harris Park
Home of the Clermont Goldfest
Fronting Capella Street and Daintree Street is the popular Rose Harris Park, named after an old Clermont identity that owned and operated a popular saddlery business for many years.
Rose Harris, who learnt saddlery skills from her father, was believed to have been the first female to do so in Australia. Her country skills and dedication to the town are reflected by her efforts in the 1916 flood whereby Rose and her father rescued five lives from the water with leather reins.
The park’s amenities include showers, toilets, baby-changing facilities and a small kitchen. The park also has shaded seats and coin operated BBQ’s.
