Australian Stockmans Hall of Fame

The Australian Stockmans Hall of fame was formed from a conviction that there was a need to capture and record the fast disappearing culture and unique history of Australia’s pioneers. A commitment was made to establish a monument to the people that created that history.

It is a museum, gallery, entertainment facility, theatre and historical library where facts relating to the outback are preserved and illustrated for the education and entertainment of Australians and visitors to Australia.

To this end the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame has become a mecca for those making the pilgrimage journey to its unique location at Longreach, outback Queensland.The Outback Heritage Centre features extensive displays on the natural and cultural history of outback and rural Australia and the Australian Stockman, providing a fascinating insight for visitors to the region. 

The Outback Stockmans Show boasts a cast and crew of five Australian working dogs, a stockhorse, packhorse, camel, bullock team and our outback stockman, the Outback Stockman's Show is a tribute to the skills of past and present stockmen - a true depiction of the unique quintessential Australian character.

The Museum has developed a national reputation for its collection and preservation of the stories of the nation’s rural past and its innovative, educational and interactive displays.

2008 saw the opening of the Hugh Sawrey Gallery which recognises the contribution Hugh Sawrey made as an Australian artist and founder of the Hall. There is a range of Australian exhibitions on show next year so be sure to stop by and enjoy some of the local and national artists’ artwork on display.

The Cattlemen's Bar & Grill is a fully licensed bar and restaurant that can seat up to 120 people and has the ability to cater for small or large groups and is ideal for your next corporate dinner, company function or wedding. A 10% discount is offered to all members.

Held daily at 11am, the show is an authentic outback stockman's experience.

The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame Heritage Tagalong Tours.

Living up to its name of “more than a museum”, The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame is delighted to announce the launch of a new tourism product in Longreach Queensland

Your own 4WD is necessary for this guided driving adventure around the bush and private properties surrounding the Longreach local area. The drive will be at a leisurely pace and will include some very beautiful scenery and wild life. A full day of education and fun is
planned and finishes up at the Hall of Fame’s Cattlemen’s Bar & Grill for a cold drink later in the afternoon.

Ben Maguire, CEO of the Hall of Fame said “this is a wonderful opportunity for visitors to the Longreach area to experience a little ‘off road adventure’ in a safe gentle way and to see special places that tourists would not normally get to see on their travels through Western Queensland”.

The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame Heritage Tagalong Tours will commence the first weekend in May and will go through till the end of October.
