The Blowholes is only 75km north on sealed road and offers camping, fishing, snorkling, small boating. You must be self contained as there is no power or water or fire wood. A real 'aussie' getaway

Rocky Pool is only 45km east towards Gascoyne Junction on sealed road and offers camping and swimming in the Gascoyne River (if there has been 'a river') Must be self contained and enjoy a 'walzing matilda' atmosphere

Bush Bay & New Beach only 33km south of town of which only 8km is dirt. Great dinghy fishing in the creeks during winter and you must be fully self contained.

Carnarvon Heritage Precinct is in town and is the One-Mile-Jetty with the 'Coffee Pot' train running on it as well as a kiosk, the Shearers Hall of Fame and the Lighthouse Keepers Cottage Museum. A must do and great fishing.

The Fruit Loop is a drive out along South River Rd, over the Gascoyne Bridge, back along North River Rd and across our new crossing. Stop at Bumbaks for a tour at 10 am or purchase sumptious preserves at the shop all day, stop at various plantations for fresh fruit and veg. Also available are fresh eggs, asparagus, jojoba oil and seafood at Ningaloo & Emerald Egg on North River Rd.

Shark Bay, pristine seafood. Available at the retail shop at Nor West Seafoods on Babbage Island Rd and at Hascienda Crab, on the small boat harbour. Prawns, scallops, blue swimmer crabs and an abundance of fish.

Kennedy Range National Park 193km east of Carnarvon via Gascoyne Junction with Temple Gorge Trail, Honeycomb Gorge Trail and Drapers Gorge Trail with camping at Temple Gorge. Very rugged country and all dirt roads beyond Gascoyne Junction.

Mount Augustus National Park 450km east of Carnarvon via Gascoyne Junction. The rock itself, which culminates in a small peak on a plateau, is about eight kilometres long and covers an area of 4,795 hectares. At about twice the size of Uluru [Ayers Rock] it is the biggest 'rock' in the world. It rises 715m out of an extensive, stony, red sandplain of arid shrubland dominated by wattles, cassias and eremophilas. The mount is 1105m above sea level. Roads are gravel but suitable for two-wheel-drive vehicles. Roads may be closed or substantially damaged after heavy rain. Seek advice from the local Shires and carry ample fuel, water and supplies to cope with all possible occurrences. No camping or open fires are permitted within the National Park or on Mount Augustus Station pastoral lease. Accommodation, powered caravan sites, camping facilities, meals, fuel and water are available at Mount Augustus Outback Tourist Resort, and Cobra Station.

Accommodation in and around Carnarvon In town, we have seven caravan parks, two motels, three hotels and a two self contained unit properties available for your stay. Outside the town centre free camping is available at Bush Bay and New Beach, Rocky Pool with only $5.50 per night per site required at the Blowholes.

Carnarvon Saturday Markets May to October, the market gives residents and visitors the opportunity to purchase a fantastic range of fresh produce, preserves and arts and crafts. At the Civic Centre in Robinson St and visiting stall holders enquiries are welcome.
