The Western Plains Zoo is a six km bushland encounter with some of the most endangered species on the planet. Safari behind-the-scenes during an Early Morning Walk to feed and interact with the giants of the African savannah as they roam naturally in their habitat.
You'll find the Zoo and a host of attractions within minutes of the city centre including historic homes, an observatory, vineyards and galleries.
Learn to throw a boomerang. Visit Old Dubbo Gaol built in 1871 which features a sizeable collection of animatronic models that tell the life stories of inmates and staff, a gallows pole with hangman's the condemned man's cell where Thomas Moore relates his story, solitary confinement cells and more.
Attractions
Dundullimal - the historic timber-slab homestead is one of the oldest homesteads left standing in western NSW.
Dubbo Observatory - three twelve-inch telescopes are in use. Fully-computerised, they can locate 64 000 different objects at the touch of a button.
Dubbo Military Museum has a varied collection of military vehicles and a scientific expo with telescope available by arrangement. The complex has a supermaze and paintball is available.
