About Mudgee

The Mudgee district is well known for its many wineries. Mudgee has developed as a wine producing region and is now a popular destination for tourists, who visit the forty wineries operating in the area. The town is littered with boutique hotels and bed & breakfast style accommodation, ideal for a weekend getaway.

Mudgee is steeped in history. It has several historic buildings that are worth checking out, in fact, it has more heritage listed buildings than any other town in NSW. Pick up a Historic Walking Map and explore Mudgee’s historic buildings.

Local activities and attractions include museums, markets, galleries, antique shops, cafes and restaurants. Visit a winery or olive producer, cheese factories or stop off at the brewery. Go on a farm walk, go bushwalking, birdwatching or gold panning. Mudgee also has a Miniature Railway and an Observatory.
