The Wonder of Walgett
Walgett is located by the Namoi River near its junction with the Barwon River in northern NSW, 696 km north-west of Sydney via Wee Waa and 114 km north of Coonamble. The town is surrounded by rich agricultural land and was once a thriving centre of the outback.
The region is well known for it's excellent fishing conditions and boasts some of the best fishing locations. It is home to eight magnificent rivers, perfect for fishing and other recreational activities.
The Jewel in the Crown
Walgett proclaims itself the 'Gateway to the Opal Fields' as it is situated on the road that leads north to Lightning Ridge (76 km) and north-west to the Grawin, Glengarry and Sheepyard Opal Fields.
