Outback Towns

The Northern Territory's capital

About Darwin

This multicultural city located at the top of the Northern Territory has a uniqueness of its own. A tropical city with two seasons, the wet and the dry. Most visitors arrive during the dry season when the days are dry and the humidity is low.  Darwin enjoys a relaxed outdoor lifestyle with many festivals and markets taking place during the dry season.

A modern city which once was a harbour port for troops fighting the WWII, visitors can explore sites such as ammunition bunkers, airstrips and oil tunnells that were used during this time.

Darwin was devistated by cyclone Tracey in 1974, the Art Gallery and Museum documents the event in great detail.

The National Parks of Litchfield and Kakadu are located within easy driving distance of Darwin.
