Experience the secrets of our valley. Nestled in the arable Callide Valley, Biloela is only an hour's flight from Brisbane, less than two hours' drive to Rockhampton (which is only half an hour from the Capricorn Coast), and closer to Gladstone and its nearby beaches.

With over a dozen choices in accommodation (400 beds), more dining experiences to sample, two main shopping streets, including a modern air conditioned shopping centre with many specialty stores, we know your visit will be an enjoyable one.

Places to visit and things to do in the Banana Shire include:

• Spirit of the Land mural on State Farm Road depicting the history of women of the Banana Shire.

• Greycliffe Homestead is open for public inspection by appointment. It was relocated from Greycliffe Station, is built of slabs, and is over a century old.

• Callide Lookout has been especially constructed, and is visited via the Ian McCauley Way, with spectacular views overlooking the operations of the open cut coal mine, Callide Coalfields, the Power Stations, and Lake Callide.

• Lake Callide, popular for fishing and water skiing, is just a ten minute drive from Biloela, with picnic tables and barbeque facilities. Lake Callide, also known as Callide Dam, is part of the Bass to Barra Trail, Australia's only impound freshwater sports fishing trail.

• Thangool, 12 kilometres south of Biloela is Thangool, an important lucerne and grazing area for the Banana Shire. Thangool has its own airport and there are daily flights to and from Brisbane. Well known for its race track and bush race days, Thangool is a classic bush town with country people and country hospitality.
