About Kilkivan
Gateway to South East Queensland
Just on the edge of southern Queensland, Kilkivan Shire forms the eastern and northern gateways of the South Burnett region of south-east Queensland, Australia.
The South Burnett is home to two of Queensland's biggest inland waterways (Lake Boondooma and the Bjelke-Petersen Dam) and is also one of the largest wine-growing regions in the State. Most of the South Burnett is located just a few easy, pleasant driving hours from Brisbane (and even less from the Sunshine Coast or Wide Bay).
That's GOLD!
Kilkivan is famous for it's history of gold and copper mining. You can experience the history of mining at the Prophet gold mine, where you can potential find your fortune by panning for Gold.
