Murgon is a beautiful outback regional Town in the South Burnett area of Queensland 270 kms North West of Brisbane and is supported by industries like winemaking, dairy farming, peanuts, beef & cattle production.

Leisure activities include fishing on the nearby Bjelke-Petersen Dam and gem-fossicking.

Murgon attractions include a tramway electrical substation relocated from Brisbane to the town’s Railway Station, The Queensland Dairy Museum, a nearby significant fossil site, Boat Mountain Conservation Park, Jack Smith Conservation Park and a number of local wineries.

The Indigenous Australian settlement of Cherbourg is just south of Murgon and features “the Ration Shed precinct”.

The town is also well serviced by restaurants and cafes, sports clubs, an RSL club, a very large conference, convention and sporting centre and a range of accommodation and retail options.
