Tambo is a great little outback town. With only 500 locals and few pubs to boot, Tambo makes a great little stopover on the drive from Charleville to Longreach. Located around 1000km north west of Brisbane on the Landsborough Highway
Tambo is herald as one of Queensland's oldest towns in the bush. Originally established in the 1860's, to service local pastoral properties, today Tambo boasts a healthy economy supported by wool and beef.
For the adventurer, Tambo has many natural attractions nearby including the Salvator Rosa National Park which is a great self drive experience and the Barcoo River where you can take the Coolibah Walk and relax by the banks of the river.
Tambo has a range of accommodation houses including motor inns, caravan parks and camping facilities. The attractions include historical houses, a the Influenza Memorial and a visit to the old post office is like taking a step back in time.
