Castlemaine Gold!  

Castlemaine was once a famous gold mining town in the 1850's when it attracted the world's attention due to rich and shallow gold findings. 

Entry to the Victorian Goldfields

Located 119 km north-west of Melbourne via the Calder Highway and 39 km south of Bendigo, the trip to Castlemaine has pristine scenary with many little creeks running through it.  It is the major entry point to the Goldfields Tourist Route.

There are many B&B’s, motels, caravan parks, and self-contained cottages for you to stay at, and arts and crafts a plenty with art galleries, cafés, restaurants, antiques and collectables.  Heritage buffs will love the historic homes and there are many wineries in  the surrounding regions.
