Benalla is known as the 'Rose City' because of its immaculate and colourful gardens. The town is located on the Broken River 188 km north-east of Melbourne via the Hume Freeway and 40 km south-west of Wangaratta.

The Benalla Museum has a comprehensive range of historic memorabilia and artefacts that trace back to the activites of the Kelly Gang. If you want to embrace the spirit of Ned Kelly you can trace Ned's trail along the Ned Kelly Touring Route.
