Benalla is known as the 'Rose City' because of its immaculate and colourful gardens. The town is located on the Broken River 188 km north-east of Melbourne via the Hume Freeway and 40 km south-west of Wangaratta.

Fans of Australia's most famous bushranger Ned Kelly wont be dissappointed.  The Benalla Museum has a comprehensive range of  historic memorabilia and artefacts that trace back to the activites of the Kelly Gang.  If you want to embrace the spirit of Ned Kelly you can trace Ned's trail along the Ned Kelly Touring Route.

Thrill-seekers can try gliding high above a backdrop of breathtaking alpine scenery or experience the action-packed thrill of the V8s.  For a more peaceful journey, you can enjoy a relaxing drop at one of the local wineries or indulge in a leisurely lakeside lunch at the Benalla Art Gallery before taking in some of Gallery's amazing historic collection.
