About Cobar
The Great Barrier.....Highway

Cobar is located about 8 hours drive from Sydney, in between Dubbo and Broken Hill on the cross roads of the Barrier Highway and Kidman Way. Interestingly, the Cobar Shire is almost the same size as the entire state of Tasmania.
Cobar's not a bad little town. It prospers with a range of mining including lead, silver, zinc and gold not to mention the richness of the pastoral land that surrounds the town.
Financial Powerhouse of the bush
Once upon a time, Cobar had its own Stock Exchange. At its peak, Cobar and the surrounding area boasted over 10,000 residents, was properous in mining and agricultural and had a stock exchange that Macquarie Bank may of been proud of. In the 1870's Cobar attracted pastoralists and the discovery of copper and zinc ensured the areas long term prosperity.
Experience the local aboriginal culture
The modern day Cobar is rich in aboriginal culture and historical museums. It is a great place to visit and is a must see for any outback adventure.
