Hay – Make Your Day in Hay

The past meets the present in Hay, one of Australia's most historic crossroads.

Hay is a friendly town, the centre of the "cradle of irrigation" on the Murrumbidgee River. about halfway between Sydney and Adelaide.

Irrigated crops grown around the Hay area are maize, cotton, wheat, oats, barley, cereal rye, grain sorghum, sunflowers, soya beans, rapeseed, large seeds and legumes. Pasture crops include paspalum/white clover, while sub clover/rye grasses are the normal winter pastures. More recently Hay has become a major rice grower. In addition, melons, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and garlic are grown in the area, along with wine grapes.

Five museums tell the stories of the town, from shearers' yarns to POW tales.
