Warra we do while we're here! 

Not much is the answer!, but Warra, like alot of other 'blink and you'll miss em' towns around outback australia hides a few little pleasures known only to the locals, been there befores and well informed Outbacknow members.

A perfect example of an outback hall can be found in Warra, and if you are lucky enough to be passing through the night of an event you will be gauranteed a night not to forget.

The Warra Heritage Centre, filled with memento's of an era past is also a must see as is Leichhardt's campsite, dated 03-10-1844.

Warra ya think will win the last! 

Having recently enjoyed my first Warra raceday, I can tell you it certainly wont be my last. These little outback race meetings really give you the feel of true country hospitality and a sense of perhaps stepping back in time, when an event was an event, not some hyped up, marketed big city slicked performance. Dress code is up to you, whether it be jeans and t-shirt or full blown race wear, people are here to have a good day, the only time you will be judged is if you've entered fashions on the field.

Like all great outback events, the steakburgers were something else and the beer kept flowing to help wash the dust down.

Did'nt back the winner of the main race, but do know the training award for the day went to Toowoomba pest controller/come trainer, Paul Edwards, who trained two winners on the day. Not a bad effort seeing he only trains two horses! Paul being a nephew of legendary outback horse trainer "Boppa" Harms, looks to have picked up the talent of preparing winners and pulling plenty out of the bookmakers bag!

Without a doubt though, the highlight of the day was the group of blokes on a 'Bucks Party' from the Gold Coast who streaked down the straight after the last. We think the bride-to-be would have been proud when the groom and another went head and head with the groom eventually getting up by a 'length'! Also pretty sure the tailender would still be pulling prickles out of his bum after taking a heavy tumble at the fifty metre mark.

The boys believe they now hold the record for the first streak in the Warra races 95 year history. 

A great day was had by all.
