Helping to energise the Outbacks future

Located 304km west of brisbane on the Warrego Highway, Brigalow is probably driven through quite un-noticed by most. However due to the rich coal seam which runs beneath this area, and a new Power Station having been built, locals are expecting some new faces around town.

No time for rabbiting around

One of the few things to check out in Brigalow is the Rabbit Proof Fence which runs from Tweed Heads to Chinchilla, crossing the Warrego Highway at the grid on the western edge of town. Land north of the fence is a Rabbit free zone. Workers who maintain the fence say even the Easter Bunny has to get permission to pass through!

Relax and drop a line in

Situated close to the Condamine River, Jingi Jingi and Cooranga Creeks, there is always a willing "Yellowbelly" ready to take your hook. These water courses begin their journey in the foothills of the nearby Bunya Mountains and help sustain one of the most lucrative farming areas in Australia. The most common crops here are wheat, barley, sorghum, chick peas and cotton.
