About Clermont
Welcome to Clermont
Clermont is about 10 hours drive (995kms) north west of Brisbane and just over 100 kms from Emerald in outback Queensland. The town became reknowned for gold mining in the 1860's and with the many tourist attractions - you can relieve the excitement of gold fever. There is a fossicking area available and many handy locals who can give you tips on where you might strike it rich. In 1916 there was a great flood which resulted in the town relocating to a higher site. The legacy of the flood remains with a piano decorating one of the trees in the devastation areas.
