Muckadilla is situated 40 kilometres west of Roma on the Warrego Highway. In 1889, the Queensland Government put down a test bore at Muckadilla. The supply was comparatively small but it was discovered that the water contained healing powers and tourists flocked to the town looking for a cure. The bore now provides the township's water supply.

Muckadilla Hotel Motel provides counter meals, bed and breakfast for tourists and a small swimming pool in a tranquil setting.

The Whistle Stop is located in the park at Muckadilla. It provides information and refreshments to tourists as well as a point of sale for local arts and crafts. The building was the original railway station at Muckadilla and has recently been relocated to this site. Public toilets and picnic tables are adjacent to the Whistle Stop.

The district of Muckadilla hosts the Annual May Day Shoot of the Western District Rifle Association.
