No visit to Cowra would be complete without spending some time at the tranquil and beautiful Cowra Japanese Garden.

The gardens opened in 1979 to honour the memory of 231 Japanese Prisoners Of War who lost their lives in a mass breakout attempt on August 5 1944 –during WW2 and offers 5 ha of lush gardens, streams and landscapes, art and a café.

The Japanese Garden is the venue of Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival held each year in late September amid the spring blossoms.
