Cloncurry Events
Fri, 03 Aug 18 – Mon, 06 Aug 18
Since 1954 the ‘Merry Muster’ has provided Cloncurry and the surrounding region with all the thrills and spills of rodeo brimming with community spirit.
The original rodeo based concept for the event was developed in Kuridala, a railway siding; today the event has grown to a festival boasting a ‘pro-rodeo’ renowned as Australia’s highest single payout professional rodeo.
The volunteer committee has worked tirelessly to develop a diverse program that celebrates rodeo and involves a variety of events for all ages.
The 2018 Festival will incorporate the popular and colourful Street Parade; annually attracting in excess of 40 themed community floats.
A launch to the weekend festivities to follow the Street Parade also incorporates community stalls, food, bar and live entertainment.
Friday will showcase the famous Bush Poets Breakfast attracting local and visiting poets and incorporating a traditional camp oven breakfast, the Teddy Bears Picnic and a junior rodeo.
Friday evening and Saturday will boast the ‘Merry Muster’ pro-rodeo which see thousands of spectators from near and far flock to see the champions compete for top prize money and the chance to win a one of a kind hand crafted buckle.
Sunday will include the popular ATRA Roping and Community Markets; a great day to unwind from a big weekend.
