Hobart Tours and Attractions
Hastings Caves State Reserve and Thermal Springs is situated 125 kilometres south of Hobart via the Huon Highway. Visitors to the reserve can take a cave tour through Newdegate Cave, the largest tourist cave in Australia; enjoy beautiful forest walks, picnics or BBQ’s on the grounds. The reserve kiosk serves food, drinks and souvenirs.
The Hastings Caves State Reserve also offers visitors the chance to relax in the warm waters of a thermal spring’s pool which remain at a constant 28 degrees Celsius year round. Call into the Visitors Centre, to purchase tickets for cave tours and entry to the thermal pools (check opening times) Wheelchair-accessible toilets, changing rooms and showers are available. Entry fees apply.
Although camping in the Reserve is not allowed, there is a range of accommodation in Dover, campgrounds at Cockle Creek, in SouthWest NP, (south of the reserve) and camping is also available at Esperance River Campsite, 10 mins south of Dover.
